This hotel is special.
I arrived late after a busy day at work. I was nervous as if I was in a hurry, when, in fact, I was not. Claudia was the first to make me feel that there was something extraordinary inside those walls. I don't know how she did it, but she slowed me down and her passion for the site was transferred to me in a few minutes.
With an admirable tranquility she showed me the hotel. The route began in the room. He gave me the called Ginebre. It is a superior category, very spacious and has all possible comforts (air conditioning, TV, jacuzzi, hairdryer...). One of the things I liked the most was the little terrace overlooking the garden. Seeing those well-kept olive trees and the pine forest behind them gave me a sensational peace. The name corresponds to the location of the room, as it is right in front of an old medicinal water source, the Font de Ginebre.
On the same floor as the reception is the restaurant, where dinner and breakfast are served. I talk about first ones in the post dedicated to the restaurant and of the latter I can only say that they are delicious with sausages from the area and jams and oil made in the hotel itself with the olives from the olive trees that can be seen from the rooms. There is also a small living room that I found very cozy and from which you can see the olive trees!
Everything is so cute; but the pool is amazing. It is heated and is on a porch where one wall is real rock and the other two are windows that can be opened and closed. In this way they manage to integrate it into the garden in summer and take advantage of it during the winter. It has great views to the outside.
We walked through the garden while we wait for Anna. Claudia explains to me the deep respect, admiration and gratitude that she has for Anna's father, Mr. Salvador Miralles, of whom she only says good things.
Mr. Miralles's story impressed me. At only 13 years old, he was left alone in the farmhouse (in the mountains) with the chickens and sheep while his family returned to Horta de Sant Joan (Terra Alta) so that his sister could study. Two years later, Mr. Miralles's father decides to sell the animals; which causes him (angry) to decide to leave town to train in the world of restoration on the Catalan coast. Thirteen years later, he opened the "Fonda Miralles" with his wife, an inn-restaurant located in the middle of Horta de Sant Joan and several years later, he inaugurated the "Les Capçades" hotel. This one is very different in style from the previous one. He is known in the region and beyond. He has a special charisma. He is a gentleman.
Anna, the hotel manager, arrives. After talking with her for a long time, she ends up confessing to me: "my father is my idol". He never knows and will never know what he made me feel at that moment.
With great sadness, I must tell you that you will no longer be able to meet at the Campanera. It was the cow that was frequently heard from any point of the hotel. It was not just any cow. When someone named at Mr. Miralles the Campanera, her eyes glazed over, a huge smile appeared on her mouth and, without restraint, he told many anecdotes about her.
I took the opportunity to go Convent of Sant Salvador. They recommended me. It is an easy walking route, is near and offers wonderful views.
I felt in love of the silence of the place (one of the quietest in the province of Tarragona), its light when the sun goes down, the swing and the staff. I loved the message that is placed in the entrance of the hotel: "Rest, Breathe, Feel" and I ask them not to change, please.
