Carretera del golf, s/n Sitges
Barcelona (Spain)

It was a Saturday in June, a spectacular day, and I wanted to see the sea without spending too much time on the road. So I decided to take a circular (hiking) route around Sitges.

I left my car in a small parking lot across from the beach, just past the main entrance to Golf Terramar. It's on the left and can be seen immediately.

The route reaches Vilanova i la Geltrú along the coast and returns inland. Take advantage of the route because the most spectacular views are on the way out, although the return through the forest is equally beautiful.

You start along a sandy path that runs between Platja de Santa Margarida on the left and Golf Terramar on the right. It's just a few meters until you reach the building that once housed the legendary Atlántida nightclub with "its" Platja de les Coves. I wasn't expecting it there, and I had a terrible sense of déjà vu. I felt terrible seeing it occupied. It had become so bad, and it was there, alone and abandoned.

There's a very short climb to Punta de les Coves, from which you can enjoy wonderful views both behind you (the way we came) and ahead (Platja de l'home mort). It's well worth it. It's named after the Cova Verda and Cova del Gegant beaches. I didn't see them. I imagine you can access them by sea, but I haven't done enough research on that.

Now we have to go down to the beach. Before reaching Platja de l'home mort, there's Platja de Rosés, which is a nudist beach. Both beaches are very beautiful, but considering it was a Saturday in June, they were quite empty (it's also true that I don't know how to access them by road). After these two beaches, we climb again (very briefly) to the next point, from where we once again have fantastic views. Now we can see Cala dels Gegants. It's had a gay beach bar since 1930. I was lucky enough to have a beautiful day with sunshine, blue sky and clear sea. The beaches were gorgeous.

After these beaches, you climb back up to the next point, the Mirador de la Punta Grossa. Honestly, we've already reached three, and I couldn't say which one offers the best views. They're all breathtaking; but here, there are some benches with signs to help you find your way. We descend toward the nudist beaches of Cala Gaspar and Cala Pati Blau. For almost the entire route, you'll be parallel to the train tracks; in fact, you can constantly hear the noise of the train. This is the only negative point. Along this stretch, I saw signs for the Camí de Ronda from Vilanova to Sitges (GR92).

Continuing our walk, we reach Cala Secreta. We climb toward two abandoned buildings that catch our attention and once again enjoy the fantastic views. From here, we can already see Platja de Sant Cristòfol, which lies behind Vilanova Port. We cross it until we reach Molí de Mar, and it's right here that we turn around to return to Sitges, this time inland.

We cross the entire forest, passing by the Fita de Miralpeix, the Ermita de la Mare de Déu de Gràcia, and the Miralpeix Castle. From here, we descend toward the Golf Terramar, skirt it, and return to the starting point.

I must confess that I ended the route with an aperitif in the gardens of the Golf Terramar. It was fantastic.

In total, we covered just over 12 km on a relatively flat and easy route. It offers a beautiful view of the Garraf, with some interesting spots to see. For detailed information about the route, click on the image and follow it on Wikiloc.
